Karise Eden’s First Single ‘You Won’t Let Me’ Tells of Love and Fear (VIDEO and LYRICS)
The Voice Australia winner Karise Eden sings the blues in her first single, You Won't Let Me, written by American singers and songwriters, Rachael Yamagata and Mike Viola.
A first listen to the song would bring to mind the ideas of love, fear of betrayal and the need to move on from a dark past.
Yamagata tweeted about the tune with a shout out to Eden Monday night.
Known for her edgy vocals that match a strong go-getter personality, Eden's journey on The Voice has been celebrated by Aussie fans since early on in show.
"You Won't Let Me" carries a rather poignant message that somewhat relates to Eden's difficulties in life. Known for having to cope with life's bigger challenges at a young age, Eden seems to be nursing her own spirit with the song. She seems to be the character for whom the song is written.
Somewhere in the song is hope. Someone's not giving up and not leaving the other behind. Someone's being stubborn, but the other wants to be stronger than any fear.
It is melancholic but inspiring. "You Won't Let Me" is expected to climb the music charts; Eden already ranked second place in the ARIA chart last week with her "Hallelujah" cover.
Meanwhile, "Karise Eden" remains a trending topic on Twitter Australia. Notably, fans of third placer Rachael Leahcar gracefully ackwnowledged her win with a tweet, saying: "Congratulations to [Karise Eden], a beautiful, inspirational, incredibly talented young lady with a career brighter than the sun!"
Twitter user @overingtonc shouted out: "I'd line up to buy a Karise Eden album. I'd play it softly on Sunday mornings with all the doors open."
Below are the lyrics and video of Eden's first single, You Won't Let Me:
If you'd only let me / I could show you how to love
Take our time / Let it all go
If you'd only let me / I could show you how to cry
In your darkest hour / I would lead you through the fire
But you won't let me / You won't let me
I don't wanna say goodbye / I just wanna give it one more try
And I'd do anything / Yes, I'd do anything
If you'd only let me / With your hand in mine
I would show you how to laugh / Nothing heavy, nothing serious
Just forget about all that / You've been stepping back
I wanna be your friend / Tear down the walls that surround you
And build you back up again
But you won't let me / No you won't let me
I don't wanna say goodbye / I just wanna give it one more try
And I'd do anything / Yes, I'd do anything
So tonight stay with me / I know I can change your mind
