Karl Lagerfeld Model Kendall Jenner: 'I Am Workaholic, Competitive And Picky'
Kendall Jenner proves that regardless of family name, it is still hard work that could lead ultimately to success. With big fashion and beauty brands all competing to get her as their new face and model, the once reality star attributes her career success to being competitive, hardworking and picky.
After signing with Estee Lauder to become the company's new face -- no small feat for a girl her age, landing a 13-page spread with Vogue and now set to be featured in Karl Lagerfeld's Campaign on 2015, Kendall can call herself made. Just a year after launching her modeling career, the once fledging teenager whose name usually only made the headline for her link with Justin Bieber, Kendall is now one of the coveted models, up in the ranks with the likes of Sasha Muss and Cara Delevigne, supermodels in their own right.
In her interview with the December issue of Vogue, Kendall gives some pointers as to how she achieved all she did in a span of a year. Interestingly for her, being the half-sister of Kim Kardashian or the daughter of Kris Jenner and Olympian Bruce Jenner has nothing to do with it. First, she says she is a workaholic. I learned early that being a perfectionist and providing quality was the only way to do business," she revealed. "Workaholic is a good word in our house."
Kendall also called herself competitive. This trait could be attributed to her being an athlete before she decided she wants to be a model. She did soccer, basketball and dodgeball on her school and was also a lauded equestrian. As a sign of her competitiveness, she decided to sell her horse Ladybug so that she could concentrate on modeling alone. She shared that she would only go back to riding when she already has kids.
When it comes to distractions such as boys, Kendall says she just do not have time for them. Moreover, she also said she's picky, so she currently has no boyfriend. This is the second time around that Kendall managed to clarify all rumors of her and Justin Bieber dating. Her time is devoted to her modeling work, and being fit and toned through sparring.
With her dedication and hard work, it is no wonder that she's considered more than just an A-list model; rather, she's a pop culture model, according to Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing. She has the capability to inspire, like some models who became household names: Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell.
