Ian Kenny must be proud to be the frontman of two very popular bands - Birds of Tokyo and Karnivool.
In the recently concluded Western Australian Music Industry Awards, Kenny's band each grabbed major prizes.
The award for the most popular act was given to the Birds of Tokyo, and the best drummer was given to the band's drummer Adam Weston.
Karnivool grabbed the most popular album for Sound Awake. Another award received by the band, who is seriously promoting the new album nationally and overseas, was the most popular live act.
The industry voted Ian Kenny as the best male vocalist. He was not able to accept it personally though because he is in the UK with the Birds of Tokyo spreading their music.
Meanwhile, Karnivool will finish its national New Day tour in their hometown and has two scheduled shows at Capitol on July 21 and 22.
The Kill Devil Hills won the best rock award, and the best commercial pop act went to the Eskimo.
Felicity Groom and the Black Black Smoke won the best indi pop act, while Project Mayhem received best hardcore punk act.
Sugar Army did not get any prize out of its eight nominations.
Will Stoker, the Embers and other bands amused the audience at Capitol for the awards.
