British actress Kate Beckinsale returns to the Underworld. The actress reportedly closed a deal with producers to reprise her famous role as the vampire Selene, main protagonist of the "Underworld" movie franchise.

Beckinsale struck a deal with Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment to return for the fourth installment in the vampire-werewolf feud series. Producers of the film are currently headhunting for a director and an actress who will play Beckinsale's daughter. Production for the film is pegged to start by March next year in Vancouver.

The "Underworld" franchise is one of the most profitable in Hollywood. The first film was released in 2003, and the franchise has subsequently went on to gross more than $300 million worldwide, with the cost of the movie estimated at less than $35 million.

Beckinsale has previously reprised her role in 2006's "Underworld: Evolution," but did not take part in 2009's "Underworld: Rise of the Lycans."
