Kate Beckinsale proves she won't be a one hit wonder when it comes to her films and apart from that, the actress proves she can get the part by only using her words.

The actress is set to release the fourth installment of her movie "Underworld." However, films and projects weren't always easy for Kate. Before Kate was thrown into the spotlight and given countless projects, she had to write a lengthy and not to mention a "gutsy letter" to get her the part of her first film, "Cold Comfort Farm."

"My audition went very well; I heard I was the favorite," said Beckinsale in an interview by Huffington Post about her audition for the film, "Cold Comfort Farm." "But then my agent called and said they were looking for somebody older... I went through the book, found all the points supporting that I was the correct age, wrote what was essentially a research paper in the form of a 'Dear John, You're Making a Terrible Mistake and I'm Going to Save You From It' letter, and delivered it to his door. Luckily he found it very amusing, phoned and told me the part was mine.'"

If Kate backed down and refused to write that letter then there wouldn't be the films "Serendipity", "Van Helsing" and the "Underworld" series. 17 years down the road and Beckinsale's acting career shows no sign of slowing down or even stopping.

In 2006 she starred alongside Adam Sandler in the family-comedy flick, "Click." A year after, she landed the role of Amy Fox alongside Luke Wilson in the 2007 horror-thriller movie, "Vacancy."

Despite film critics booing over her performance in her 2009 film, "Whiteout", Kate still manages to get a few darn good roles. Her vampire role as Selene is much awaited to be back on the big screen while Kate is busily in the works for her other films namely, "Total Recall", "Happy Holidays, Katherine Sloane" and "Contraband" all of which are said to be out this 2012.

Kate Beckinsale can surely kick ass on screen and she proves she is one gutsy actress when she wants a role in a movie.
