Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have ended their three-year engagement. No details were given as to the cause of the breakup; however, rumours point at the actress' special friendship with Derek Hough as the reason for the split.

A representative for the Muse frontman tells US Weekly that Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy "have been separated for some time now." Their relationship has supposedly been "coming apart for some time," adds the rep. But despite the split, the ex-couple remain friends. Likewise, the rep confirms Kate and Matt will remain committed as co-parents to their son, three-year-old Bingham Hawn Bellamy.

The publication suggests Kate Hudson and Matt Bellany's long-distance relationship could have been the cause of the breakup. It's supposedly the same reason why no wedding was planned since their engagement. However, sources think otherwise and claim Derek Hough is somehow involved.

An insider tells US exclusively that Derek Hough and Kate Hudson were showing a lot of PDA while at a Los Angeles restaurant. They reportedly didn't mind who was looking while they were making out. The source claims that the duo was at Nice Guy on Friday, Dec. 5, when they were spotted "totally kissing." The insider even described their display as "so scandalous." The source adds that Hudson and Hough stayed at the restaurant drinking and talking until past closing. However, US claims that by that time, the actress had already split from her fiancé.

Back in 2013, Kate Hudson had revealed during an interview with Shape magazine that she had been spending time with Derek Hough. According to E Online, the actress admitted she has "been ballroom dancing with Derek Hough." She even described the experience as a "real blast." Additionally, the site claims the pair also fired up a storm on the dance floor during Kate Hudson's "Sons of Anarchy" themed party in Halloween. Matt Bellamy was reportedly even present at the said party. E adds Derek was also at Goldie Hawn's "Love in For Kids" event in L.A. on Nov. 21, when Matt and Kate were last seen together on the red carpet.

However, it's supposedly unlikely for Derek to be hooking up with the actress since he's believed to be dating dancer Justene Alpert. Sources claim the dancers even spent Thanksgiving together and were recently on a date. However, despite the rumours, Kate Hudson's rep declined E's request for comment on the actress' split from Matt Bellamy. Likewise, Derek Hough's rep told E she doesn't comment on her client's personal life.
