The Duchess of Cambridge granted a little school boy his wishes by giving him a warm hug when she visited the North-East.

Known for her loving demeanor, Kate Middleton proved again that she has a soft heart for kids when she delightfully gave a little boy a hug when passing by a group of supporters. School kids from Morpeth Road Primary School, Blyth, Northumberland, attended the welcoming event in Newcastle Civic Centre, and one of the 11 pupils was lucky enough to experience Kate's friendliness.

"It was good. I was hoping to get a hug from her when we came here this morning." said 10-year-old Terry to Daily Star, when asked about her close encounter with the royal.

"I never actually thought it would happen. I can't believe she hugged me back. She was really nice." added the dazed school boy. Even Terry's teacher, Kim Ramsey, was stunned that the Duchess actually stopped on her tracks to give Terry the attention he wanted.

"We never imagined when we set off this morning that Terry would actually get a hug from Kate." said Ramsey.

"We asked the children to come up with a question for her and he decided he was going to ask for a hug. He's such a cheeky little lad." added the teacher.

The 30-year-old Duchess went on the appearance alone, as Prince William had to attend his former nanny's funeral.

The Duchess also tried her luck with boccia, a Paralympic sport, and showed her love for the environment by planting trees in a garden located in Elswick Park.
