Prince William's trip to Malta reportedly had a few locals question his identity. The Duke of Cambridge is supposedly less famous than his wife, Kate Middleton, who remains under the doctor's care because of her pregnancy sickness.

People Magazine suggests Prince William just isn't as famous as the Duchess of Cambridge in Malta. The publication spoke to Sue Wilding, a resident of Kennilworth in Warwickshire, England. The 74-year old shared a surprising detail about the Prince's visit.

"A lot of the locals I have spoken to have said: 'Who's William?'" she said.

Prince William was reportedly greeted with disappointed faces during his trip to Malta to celebrate the island's 50 years of independence. The locals were allegedly upset that Kate Middleton had cancelled since they had expected to see her instead of her husband. Sue Wilding told the publication that "they would have preferred to have seen Kate."

The Duchess of Cambridge had to cancel her Malta trip over her pregnancy sickness. The Palace has confirmed the Duchess is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness. According to a previous article from the International Business Times, Kate suffered the same excessive vomiting when she was pregnant with her first son, Prince George. However, Prince William may have revealed some positive news to his wife's health condition during his Malta visit.

"She's so-so, she's up and down at the moment," he told Sandra Lant, a 70-year old resident of Suffolk, England.

Furthermore, a royal source has confirmed that Kate Middleton is "up and about" according to People. But doctors are reportedly still advising the Duchess of Cambridge to have frequent rests.

According to People Magazine, the Malta visit was supposed to be Kate Middleton's first step to becoming a senior member of the royal family. She was additionally expected to have made the trip overseas alone. But Kate has remained under doctor's watch at her Kensington Palace apartment since September 8, when Clarence House confirmed her second pregnancy on Twitter.

Despite her absence, Malta's president Coleiro Preca only had good words for the royal family. Mirror UK quoted the president on her conversation with Prince William, where she said the British royal family is considered as friends of Malta. Additionally, she also told Prince William during his visit that Malta is "looking forward to welcoming all his family including baby George and including the new baby."
