Kate Middleton Pregnancy Update: Baby Bump Debut Postponed, Royal Engagements 'Called Off'
Kate Middleton is apparently still suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum, a pregnancy sickness characterised with extreme vomiting. The Duchess hasn't been seen for a couple of months now, with reports claiming her last public appearance was on August 5 during the poppy installation at the London Tower. However, it may seem that Kate is not stepping out anytime soon, as an insider claimed she will not be in any royal engagements this week.
According to Express UK, a royal source claimed Kate Middleton "has no plans to undertake any official engagements before next week." Apparently so, since the Duchess had to pull out on another planned visit to Portsmouth, Hampshire on Monday, October 13. The princess was scheduled to visit Olympic sailor Sir Ben Ainslie's new headquarters for his America's Cup team in the Camber Dock at Old Portsmouth. But the source supposedly confirmed the trip has been "called off" in lieu of the Duchess' pregnancy sickness.
It was previously reported that Kate Middleton was well enough to debut her baby bump soon. The Duchess already has royal engagements lined up for October and November, according to Daily Mail. Her first public appearance since her second pregnancy was announced on September 8, would have been for a charity visit to London's Art Room, where she is a patron. However, in a personally-penned message, the Duchess had to send her apologies to the expectant children and staff. She was reportedly also "hugely disappointed" to have missed the visit.
Additionally, People claimed the Duchess has royal engagements scheduled until December. However, there's still no guarantee that she would be able to tend to her duties. Kensington Palace has reportedly stated that Kate Middleton's engagements are being reviewed on a "day-to-day" basis in case she couldn't commit. Likewise, medical staff are supposedly still monitoring her pregnancy sickness daily.
Kate Middleton is 11 weeks into her second pregnancy. Clarence House confirmed her pregnancy on Twitter on September 8. Since then the Duchess has been unable to tend to her royal duties due to her hyperemesis gravidarum, the same pregnancy sickness that plagued her when she was carrying her firstborn, Prince George.
