Kate Middleton vs. Princess Diana: Duchess Learns from Queen's Parenting Style [SLIDESHOW]
Certainly, it may perhaps not be the fairest comparison, but it's inevitable, particularly now that Prince William's wife is on the cusp of giving birth to their first child-the future heir to the British throne. Here's a sneak peek of the similarities the two royal women share while having a baby on board.
The Duchess of Cambridge is expected to deliver the baby at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital in London, the very same location where the Princess of Wales, gave birth to both William and Prince Harry. And in an echo of Wills' own arrival 31 years ago, the baby's birth and gender will be announced via a royal declaration that will delivered from the hospital to Buckingham Palace via royal escort and placed on an easel outside the palace.
Diana was only 20 when she announced that she was expecting her first child with Prince Charles and the news came only 3 months after their high profile nuptials. Kate is 30 and expecting her first child with Prince William.
Most probably, Kate will parent her baby much the same way Diana chose to parent William and Harry: with constant love and affection. Diana broke the palace rule when she refused to travel without her infant sons and it's no surprise that Kate will most likely opt to do the same. Unlike in the royal family, Diana breastfed both William and Harry.
The late Princess was well ahead of her time in the maternity wear department. Her dresses were comfortable and so ahead of time . Though the fashion world has tremendously evolved since, Kate will continue to take style cues from late mom in-law. Diana made fashionable and comfortable maternity choices that women everywhere followed.
Kate should take note: Diana managed to move beyond glitz and showbiz to find a meaningful role for herself within the Firm. Kate would be wise to take a lesson from the late royal, particularly when it comes to rearing her firstborn in the ever-scrutinizing global spotlight.
Diana's low-key parenting method had great impact on William and Prince Harry, according to Princess Margaret's official biographer Christopher Warwick, Kate and William would love to be able to do the same.
"William and Harry were very, very fortunate with Diana as a mother because her ideas were so different to the previous generation," Christopher said, according to 'Arabia MSN News'. "The importance of this to her two sons has been enormous and William will want this for his children."
Like Diana, Kate didn't grow up as royalty, so Christopher said she would love to make her child's life similar to hers.
"Kate's childhood was pretty ordinary," he said. "She won't want her baby to be the subject of rules and protocol before they need to be."
Hope to hear the great news soon! till then keep the fingers crossed.
