Kate Middleton's American designer style: light and airy [PHOTOS]
After a short 3-day trip in California, the Duchess of Cambridge showed a lighter side to her style with the dresses and the outfits she wore.
When the Royal Couple arrived, Kate immediately wowed the crowd with a light blue-grey dress by Roksanda Ilincic. The critics praised the Duchess for her casual and laid-back style, letting the photographers focus on her natural beauty and bouncy hair. The next day, the Duchess was seen in a bright green Diane Von Furstenburg dress she wore to a reception held by the British Consul in Los Angeles.
But the Duchess's most talked-about outfit is the Alexander McQueen powder lavender dress with waist belt she wore at the BAFTA Brits to Watch event. The event was attended by Hollywood a-listers Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner, Blake Lively, Zooey Deschanel, Jason Bateman and many more. The Duchess paired her stunning Alexander McQueen gown with silver Jimmy Choo pumps.
Kate showed up with her husband William wearing a Jenny Packham floral dress for the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet club for a charity event. Jenny Packham is the same designer responsible for her powder yellow dress that caused quite a wardrobe malfunction as the Duchess walked through heavy winds in Canada. The next day, Kate visited the Inner City Arts Center wearing pieces from her favorite discount retailer Whistles. Kate paired a billowing white pleated skirt with a crochet top in navy blue - her favorite color.
