According to a study conducted by the Royal Free and University College London Hospitals, the Duchess of Cambridge and Scarlett Johansson have perfectly shaped "beckoning breasts." This is a term coined by the lead researcher, Patrick Malluci, to refer to breasts that are perfectly proportioned.

The study revealed that "beckoning breasts" are scientifically perfect and have an ideally placed nipple median. This means that 45 per cent of the breast is above the line of the nipples, while a voluptuous 55 per cent lies below. These are the kind of breasts that a few celebrities are blessed with, and the list includes Kate Middleton, Scarlett Johansson, Megan Fox, Miranda Kerr, Katy Perry and Kelly Brook.

According to the Daily Mail, the London-based plastic surgeon, Malluci, described that the "beckoning breasts" as the ideal breast proportions, with the nipple pointing 20 degree upwards. Women who are blessed with a bust that is proportioned in this way draw attention and they look naturally beautiful, he states.

Malluci believes that it is the ratio of the size of the breast above the nipple and to that of the lower nipple that hold the key to a perfect pair. His study is backed by a public poll in which he asked 1,300 people to rank four different breast types according to appeal. The results revealed that the breasts which held the 45:55 ratio were voted the most favourite, with 87 per cent ranking it as number one on the list.

Pointing towards the trend of breast implants, he said most women want fuller breasts as they picture themselves in clothes. "Most women have walked into a clinic thinking they're going to get a couple of round footballs because fullness is a desired look in clothing and women tend to picture themselves dressed," said Malluci. He said that surgeons would give women what they want, but it really is not attractive and looks fake and distorted.

The survey revealed that Kate Middleton and Scarlet Johansson's breasts were voted as the best proportioned pair by 87 per cent. 2 per cent voted for Lindsay Lohan's and Kim Kardashian's pair which has a ratio of 55:45 with respect to the size above and below the nipple median. Another 9 per cent rated Britney Spears bust as the best, with an equal 50:50 ratio.

The survey revealed that even men prefer natural-looking breasts than artificial-looking ones.

Malluci does not intend to tell women that this is the ideal breast proportion that one should opt for. Through his study, he wants to give surgeons the scientifically proven aesthetic proportions that could help them give the best results for those wanting enhancements. He refers to the 45:55 ratio as the golden ratio and suggests that surgeons should use this during breast surgery.

He also said that those who have children and want to have breast enhancement feel that the golden proportion gives them best results and most satisfaction.
