A report of Prince William giving up the throne recently shocked everyone, especially since the reason cited was Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton's difficult second pregnancy. British monarchy laws however, would refute this earlier report.

In the UK, succession is governed by the Act of Union 1800, which restates the provisions of the Act of Settlement 1701 and the Bill of Rights (1689). Following this, Prince Charles is bound to be king once his mother, Queen Elizabeth, abdicates or gives up the throne. Prince William can only become King or have any right to the throne if Prince Charles passes the throne to him.

According to the November 10th edition of Globe Magazine, it claimed that Prince William had a change of heart about sitting on the throne. However, according to the British laws, Prince Charles is set to be the King after Queen Elizabeth retires. The line of succession is set by judicial precedent in English common law and can only be altered by Act of Parliament.

According to the magazine, "Prince William stunned the Royal Family by revealing that he's giving up the throne for the love of his beautiful wife, Kate." The magazine claimed that even though the Queen thinks Prince William is suitable to have the crown, Prince Wiliam wants his father to reign for the meantime. The magazine proclaimed that because the Queen is already "ailing." She's already prepared to step down and hand the crown to her 32-year old grandson, bypassing her son Prince Charles. However, because Prince William said he could not handle any more pressures of royal life and needed more time to just look after his pregnant wife, he wanted the crown to be given to his father instead, as he is the original successor.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton having a difficult pregnancy had been true. Her bouts of morning sickness were as bad as what she experienced during her first pregnancy, prompting her to stay away from the public eye for a while. But now that she's feeling a bit better, she and Prince William are taking a "babymoon" together. According to US Weekly, she, William, and Prince George have travelled to Scotland for a "romantic getaway." This getaway was Prince William's idea, after seeing how rough the previous months were for Kate. Going to Scotland was a good idea because they both "love the outdoors" and the weather is not that cold yet.
