She's a Vogue cover girl, a Youtube sensation, and an in demand model, but Kate Upton's see-through dress at the "Casting By" after party was a bit of a sheer disaster.

On July 29, "The Other Woman" actress joined the festivities at the "Casting By" after party in New York City. Kate Upton's see-through dress came courtesy of designer Jason Wu. The sleeveless, floral number was lovely. Feminine, but flirty with sheer details and a short hem. However, it just wasn't the right dress and fit for Kate Upton. Bra size and bra style were just about displayed as the sheer panels seemed awkwardly placed on Kate Upton's fabulous figure, revealing her nude coloured strapless bra.

Thankfully for Kate, she is not the first, or the last celebrity to wear sheer dresses with disastrous results.

The importance of great underwear was never more evident when Gwyneth Paltrow went braless underneath her McQueen for the 2002 Oscars. A little lift would have made a huge difference. The actress herself said, "I should have worn a bra..." Yes, Gwyneth. You should have.

What do you get when you combine a reality TV personality, a red carpet, and lots of photographers? The possibility for one of the worst fashion disasters ever. Just ask Adrienne Bailon. "Wardrobe malfunction" barely described her plunging neckline, sheer dress, with just a swath of ruffles covering her private parts. She did get people to talk about her, so maybe there's a figurative silver lining to that sheer dress, after all.

At the Elle Women in Music event in 2012, the most daring outfit was worn by Melody Thornton. See-through lace and a nude hue was about as exposed as any celebrity could get. The former Pussycat Doll wasn't bothered though. She must have been laughing to herself after all the media coverage from her sheer disaster.

See-through dresses don't always have to spell disaster, or land a celebrity on the worst dressed list. Kristen Stewart's love of sheer pants and lace looks is just one example of other sheer outfits that worked. Hopefully, Kate Upton's next sheer dress will have a little more success.
