Kate Winslet To Mark Her Return to Australian Films With 'The Dressmaker', Judy Davis to Play Her Mother
Kate Winslet is all set to take revenge (pun intended). The award winning actress would be seen playing a befitting role of a super talented dressmaker in a new Australian film , 'The Dressmaker'. The film is being directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse and would go on floors earlier this year.
The movie has been described as a modish drama laced with comedy and would see Winslet returning from Europe back to her country hometown which she had left as a child. Australian actress Judy Davis would be playing Winselt's mother in the film.
With the film Winslet would bring back the 1950's country side ensemble back in vogue. Her character's name is 'Tilly Dunnage' and in the film she won't let live those in peace who had accused her of murder due to which she had to leave the town.
Moorhouse known for 'Proof and How to make an American quilt', would be kick starting her career as a director with 'The Dressmaker. In 2005 she planned a film 'Eucalyptus' with Nicole Kidman and Russel Crowe but due to some reasons it couldn't go on the floors. Jocelyn has also produced a comedy 'Mental' which was directed by her husband P.J.Hogan.
The Dressmaker has been adopted from a novel by Rosalie Ham. Moorhouse sums the novel as "Unforgiven with a sewing machine"
This film will rekindle Australian memories for Kate Winslet, who last shot for an Australian film'Holy Smoke' in 1999.
