Katherine Heigl replaces Halle Berry in upcoming romantic film, "New Year's Eve"
Former Grey’s Anatomy actress, Katherine Heigl is now confirmed to join the A-list of Hollywood stars that will be featured in the upcoming film, “New Year’s Eve”, to play the role of Academy Award winner Halle Berry, who backed out due to attend to some family matters.
Gerard Butler’s co-star in "The Ugly Truth" has been named to replace Halle Berry when the Monster's Ball’s leading female star, asked to be released from the project in pursuit of her custody battle against 35-year old model, Gabriel Aubry. The former couple is now racing to the court for the full custody of their two-year-old daughter, Nahla.
The romantic flick which is set to begin filming this week will give Katherine a chance to be reunited with former leading men. Also joining the powerhouse cast are Ashton Kutcher who Katherine has teamed up in “Killers” and Josh Duhamel, who was Katherine’s man in “Life as We Know It”. Both films were released last year.
Katherine Heigl has appeared in a number of romantic comedy films including, "Knocked Up", "27 Dresses", "The Ugly Truth and some more. Most of Heigl's films have grossed approximately about $50 million, said Hollywoodcrush.mt v.com. But “New Year’s Eve” has better chances to gross better in the box office, based on how its predecessor, “Valentine’s Day” has raked in viewers. "Valentine’s Day” earned an estimated $110million when released last year.
Valentine’s Day, like “New Year’s Eve”, had featured Hollywood big stars including Julia Roberts, who played a military officer who flew from Iraq to see her son on Love Day. It also had Bradley Cooper portraying a gay role and in love with a celebrity football star. Jessica Biel joined the film as the football star’s publicist; Jennifer Garner, is Biel’s, girl best friend and Ashton Kutcher is Jennifer Garner’s boy best friend, but who fell in love and decided to kiss her before Valentine’s day ended.
“New York’s Eve” is a story of separate couples and individuals, whose lives, like in “Valentine’s Day” are intertwined with each other and their connections will be resolved by midnight of the 24-hour clock at the Big Apple.
Other Hollywood big stars named by The Age to join the all- star cast are Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Michelle Pfeiffer, another Oscar winner, Hillary Swank and Glee star, Lea Michelle. Joining them are Jon Bon Jovi, Seth Meyers, Jessica Biel, Zac Efron, Sofia Vergara, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Gary Marshall is directing the film.
