After Katie and Tom's divorce was finalised, gone are the days when Katie can be see as the happy and connected girl next door as she really was, especially when she was still doing "Dawson Creek." Headlines and images abound the net, showing her distant, aloof and even reserved. Katie wants this image scrapped from people's memory. She's not going to let her failed relationship with Tom Cruise define her.
First, she said she's not distant at all. She's just shy, but she's really sensitive. She told People that her sensitivity is not seen by many. She admits that she cries all the time.
She said that she's ready to have more fun now as she shapes her own future, without Tom Cruise or anyone else. "I don't have any fear now, I don't have a lot of rules for myself and I don't take myself that seriously," she explained. "I'm not afraid to try new things."
Her six-year relationship with Tom Cruise may have shaped her to be the person that she is today, but the actress shares that he hates the thought of letting that six years to define who she is. In her own choice words, she said she was an actor and she'll be actor forever, having a failed marriage does not affect that.
"I don't want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am," she said. "I don't want that to be what I'm known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now." As much as her marriage ended negatively for her, she's not closing her doors to loving again. She said she's open to finding love someday.
