Katie Holmes who has a daughter Suri, four, with actor husband Tom Cruise, is motivated by her loved ones.

The Extra Man star claimed her family inspires the way she approaches some of her film characters.

"Every day my husband inspires me," she said. "My family inspires me. My daughter inspires. We're always sort of creating new things whether it's a party, or a script or a movie. We try to be a very creative household."

The brunette actress said she thinks Suri could follow in Katie and Tom's footsteps in the acting world.

"I know that she can do whatever she wants and she'll be great at it," she said.

Tom recently admitted he always talks to Suri about his movie roles and runs through his scripts with her.

"I'll put Suri on a swing and tell her stories when I'm working on a script," he said.

"I'll start with the beginning of the movie and take her through the story beat by beat. Of course, I make it age-appropriate.

"She's four years old. But she asks all the right questions, 'Why does that happen?' 'Those are the bad guys?' 'You're the good guy, right?'

"It comes down to the same thing as when I was a kid. Can I create a character that will make her happy, that will make her laugh? And you know what? She makes me get better and better, because she's always asking me to do it again."
