Katie Holmes Not Dating Robin Thicke, Tom Cruise Ex To Direct 'All We Had' While He's Working On 'Top Gun 2'
Katie Holmes is making a lot of headlines with her new movie "The Giver" starring alongside Meryl Streep and her directorial debut in "All We Had." The actress was also recently linked to Paul Patton's estranged husband, Robin Thicke, and reportedly "arranged a date" with the singer.
After so many speculations about Katie's love life, sources close to the actress confirmed she is not dating the "Blurred Lines" singer whom she met while she was with Tom Cruise. Katie was reportedly confused about the news and stresses she has no plans of dating the controversial singer.
Meanwhile, Holmes is set to direct the movie adaptation of "All We Had," a movie based on Annie Weatherwax's novel. The story centres on a poverty-stricken mother and her 13-year-old daughter who finds solace and home in a small town with its quirky residents. Penned by "Fault In Our Stars" director Josh Boone, the movie will be produced by Jane Rosenthal ("About A Boy").
"I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane and Josh on this project and look so forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen," the "Dawson's Creek" alum said in statement posted in Variety.
Rosenthal also revealed Kate's "clear vision for the book's irreverent, original mother-daughter relationship" is what makes it unique and refreshing to watch. Not to mention the actress' passion for the material and Boone's ability to tell stories, "All We Had" is a comedy and drama all rolled into one.
The 35-year-old actress also stars in the upcoming movie "Miss Meadows," a dark comedy that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Suri's mom plays a an elementary school teacher who moonlights as a vigilante with a plot-like Marry Poppins meets John Waters. Doing a character outside her comfort zone, Holmes' new movie is funny and dark at the same time.
Meanwhile, ex-husband Tom Cruise is close of securing a deal in reprising his old role as Maverick in "Top Gun 2." A sequel to the 1980's classic movie, the "Mission Impossible" star is slated to return as ace pilot that will showcase the relevance of "good old fashioned pilots in today's high-tech, drone-centric war environment."
