Katie Holmes Returns to Catholic Church, Ready for TV Again?
Katie Holmes is reportedly back to being a bona fide Catholic woman, reports say.
A report from examiner.com says Holmes is now officially a member of the Church of St. Francis Xavier in New York City.
Return to the Catholic Church a statement?
Returning to the Catholic Church seemed natural for Holmes who was raised by Catholic parents. With the move being published days after her divorce settlements were reportedly sealed, it seems Holmes is confirming reports that her future ex-husband's church is the primary reason for the end of their marriage.
She was 26 and had just started dating Tom Cruise when she tested the waters at the Church of Scientology.
"I'm really excited about (Scientology)," Holmes told reporters in London about seven years ago. "I know how important it is to Tom, and I want to be able to share that with him," she was quoted as saying.
Catholics 'thrilled'
A St. Francis Xavier choir singer told Huffington Post about Holmes' registration to the church. The source said:
"Everyone is thrilled to have Katie join us. She has not yet attended a service, but when she does she will be welcomed with open arms."
In the reported out-of-court divorce settlement between Holmes and Cruise, the subject of religion has its own clause. The couple reportedly agreed to go easy on their daughter Suri Cruise with religion matters until she is free to choose for herself at the age of 18.
New phase, new movies and TV show?
The "new phase" that Holmes mentioned in her Elle magazine interview has begun. It is widely reported that she has won sole custody of her 6-year-old daughter. She is poised to launch her new fashion line. Is she also open to films and television soon?
Holmes was last seen on the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" as the "slutty pumpkin."
