Pop singer Katy Perry finally made a statement about her looming divorce with comedian and actor Russel Brand.

Katy Perry kept mum about the details of her impending divorce with her husband for the past few weeks. Now, she posted on Twitter that she speaks for herself. She also warned her fans and her followers that she has a take on the issue and no one can put words on her mouth even her parents who initially made their statements.

Pastors Keith and Mary Hudson spoke about their daughter's divorce for the first time - from the pulpit of their evangelical church which was unusually packed. The singer's parents said that her split with Russell was a gift sent by God - to help them fill churches.

Katy's mother Mary preached to the Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio, saying, "I'm sure that Katy's trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight. I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012."

Brand announced on December 30 that he was filing for divorce from Perry and said: 'Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends.'

Katy posted "I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again."

She also warned her fans not to listen to the rumors hurting her image. Before the recent post, Perry's last Twitter update was after Christmas, December 26. There were reports that the singer will stay in the $6.5 million mansion of the couple and that Brand will move out. The TMZ reported that the moving process is already ongoing as it seems that the pair has reached an amicable decision.
