The “Fireworks” singer claims her romance with blues singer, John Mayer began with love letters. Katy has been making headlines recently for the success of her fourth studio album, “Prism.” But Robert Pattinson’s best friend may be equally happy for her romance with “Your Body is a Wonderland” singer.

In a recent interview for the Nov. 8 issue of Entertainment Weekly, the singer sounded things are getting stronger everyday for her and her on-and-off boyfriend.

Acording to Mail Online, Perry said in the interview that she “had a long courtship [with Mayer] before anything was [public]' before they made their relationship public in 2012.

The summer romance she noted, was a long-distance one and it began with love letters.

'I actually wrote it in an email one time, and after I wrote it I looked -- we had a long courtship before anything was [public], just writing letters to each other -- and seeing "legendary lovers," Perry was quoted telling Entertainment Weekly by Mail Online.

The romantic, long-distance relationship served as her inspiration for her single, “Legendary Lovers.”

Perry added, “Some things float into my mind, and I process them, and [then] I make songs about them.'

So inspired that Mail Online noted one of her songs in her new album, “Prism” had these for lyrics: 'Never knew karma could be so rewarding and bring me to your life/ Maybe this is the beginning of something so magical tonight.'

Mayer and Perry had made their romance public shortly after Perry finalized her divorce from British actor and comedian, Russell Brand. The singer has been open about her divorce from Brand that she recently revealed she “stayed in bed for two weeks,” after receiving text from her ex-husband that he wanted a divorce.
