Katy Perry + Marilyn Monroe: The Mashup [VIDEO]
More than 60 years after Marilyn Monroe hit Hollywood, post-millennial pop princess Katy Perry is showing nothing but respect to the original blonde bombshell.
The "California Dreams" singer's latest single, "The One That Got Away" got the remix treatment and was mashed up with footage from the upcoming film "My Week With Marilyn," created by The Weinstein Co.
"The remix features snippets of dialogue from the film, performed by its stars Michelle Williams (as Monroe), Kenneth Branagh (Sir Laurence Olivier) and Eddie Redmayne, playing the assistant who spends the week with the starlet." shares Hit Fix, describing the video mashup, with the remix done by Mike Relm.
Katy Perry shows full support toward the mashup, sharing the video through her Twitter account.
"Mash-up of #TheOneThatGotAway with exclusive footage from My Week With Marilyn!" tweeted Perry.
Katy Perry got boosted to stardom after her scandalous single "I Kissed A Girl." Everything else went uphill for Perry, who released Billboard Hot 100 hits one after another, including the top 5 hit "Hot n Cold" and top 10 hit "Waking Up in Vegas."
She then released her second album "Teenage Dream," which released several hits such as the track of the same name, "California Gurls" that featured Snoop Dogg, "Firework," and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" with the 80's-inspired music video.
"Marilyn Monroe is a source of inspiration to millions worldwide," said Perry in a statement. "After having the opportunity to see the movie and fall in love all over again with Marilyn Monroe, I'm excited to find a way to share this movie that I loved so much with my fans in a special and unique way," reported Hit Fix on Perry's reaction to the movie.
"My Week With Marilyn" features Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, who is out shooting the 1957 film "The Prince and the Showgirl," which she starred in alongside Olivier, portrayed by Branagh.
Alongside them are Dougray Scott, Judi Dench, Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame and Redmayne, who plays the role of Clark, Marilyn Monroe's escort after her husband left the country.
