Yes, indeed she is. Singer Katy Perry announced that she will not attend the People's Choice Awards this week, in what would have been the pop star's first major appearance since her split from Russell Brand.

Perry is nominated for seven awards including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Song of the Year at the event on Thursday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

"Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People's Choice Awards. I want to thank you all for voting for me, fingers crossed!" Perry sent out a message via Twitter on Monday night to her fans. It came a day after she thanked her fans for their support and for making her heart happy again.

Brand has filed for divorce from Perry after 14 months of marriage citing irreconcilable differences. Gossip websites had previously reported that British comedian Brand was uninvited to the ceremony to avoid an awkward confrontation with Perry where she is expected to make an appearance.

"It will be Katy's big night," a source told "The Mirror." It is a prelude event to the Grammys and Russell Brand has been strangely left off the list of attendees for the high-profile event. "It was always going to be awkward for organizers in any case after their shock decision to split," the source added.
