Katy Perry is never left behind when it comes to keeping up with the latest trends especially in her field of work, which is music. With the current trend of 'mashups,' she invited everyone to come up with a creative mashup of her very own hit song 'The One That Got Away.'

Since this announcement, huge piles of videos were uploaded right into YouTube and there was just one that got a big deal of attention. Yes, the classic and well loved singer-songwriter Richard Marx came up with his own mash up by combining his own cover of the song and mixing it up with Katy's original piece.

The said mash up video already received about 3,000 views in several days and it was even produced by a renowned music engineer, Matthew Prock along with the help of Richard Marx himself.

In his AOL interview, Marx revealed that even if he is not fond of singing 'covers,' he felt that the song of Katy Perry can still show itself more when another approach is applied. He revealed that he could not help then but listen to Perry's album as he was driving in his car. Could this be that the balladeer straight from the 80s is a Katy Perry fan?

He revealed that his boring day then led him to rush to his studio and create a brand new version of the song. And now with the mash up version, Katy Perry has a reason to smile to learn that a classic songwriter as Marx became interested with her hit song.
