Katy Perry admitted that that her busy schedule was the main reason for the breakup of her marriage with comedian Russell Brand.
In an interview with Vogue, the nine-time Grammy-nominated performer revealed that their divorce became eminent because she refused to remain equal with Brand.

"At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they're like, I can't handle the equalness," she explained.

Perry revealed that her road tours and hectic schedule damaged their relationship, and that's what hurt her most. Perry said that he was "very controlling," which really upset her.

"I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like: This isn't because of me; this is beyond me. So I have moved on from that," she said.

The popular Hollywood actress, singer and songwriter Katy Perry finally disclosed to Vogue Magazine's July issue that former husband Russell Brand got rid of her unceremoniously on New Year's Eve in 2011 through a text message.

The 28-year old performer described Brand as, "smart and magical", two of the reasons why she married him. But, that magic did not last long and their relationship fell apart.

The couple got married in October of 2010 after they got acquainted during the MTV Video Music Awards of 2009.

Perry recalls that Brand made fun of her in one of his shows and he didn't realize that she was part of the audience. She even said that Brand was frenzied at some point. Katy Perry also tried to avoid discussing her divorce in public but the artist finally revealed that their separation was barely a "teenage dream".

"I never heard from him after being texted by Brand about this decision last December 31, 2011," she stated.

However, Perry confessed that her frequent road shows and not being able to come home was one of the main reasons for their relationship's downfall. There may be other motives but Perry refused to give details.

"I am primarily responsible for the termination of their bond but I uncovered something that I do not wish to divulge and prefer to keep it private," she added.

Perry also claimed that the well-hyped relationship she had with American rock musician John Mayer was only meant to get back at Brand. She says she still remains "madly in love" with Mayer.

The singer-actress began dating Mayer after her break-up with Brand. However, their hectic schedules caused the short-lived affair to flounder although Perry insists her feelings for the pop idol has not dropped. "He has a very beautiful mind and tormented soul. I still have to determine why I am fascinated by these broken birds," she asserts.

At the moment, Perry intimated that she has focused on making herself stronger and needs to create an emotional support mechanism. "I am positive that I will be loved once more in the proper way in the future because I deserve it," Perry mentioned.

The artist is currently doing a new album and feels very good when she does her recording and song writing. She admits having moved on after these failed relationships and chose to work on her new life.
