Katy Perry Suicide: Singer Contemplated Death After Russell Brand Divorce
Katy Perry's relationship and marriage to British actor Russell Brand could supposedly be described as a whirlwind romance. However, the actress was apparently so distraught over their divorce that she even contemplated suicide during the time.
E Online reports Katy Perry thought of committing suicide following her divorce from ex-husband Russell Brand in 2011. The singer reportedly suffered depression and was in her "darker days" following the split. According to the online publication, Katy Perry revealed this detail into her past relationship during an interview with Australia's "The Project" on Monday, Nov. 10. "It was sad and there were thoughts, but there were never actions, thankfully," she said.
Additionally, her divorce from Russell Brand was referenced in her emotional ballad "By the Grace of God." The singer confessed it was the first song she wrote when she was "in a darker place." Katy Perry also previously revealed to Billboard magazine the inspiration for her emotional ballad. The singer called the song evidence to how tough the divorce really was at a certain point. She recalled feeling alone following the split. However, "By the Grace of God" helped her get through her divorce. Katy Perry said in the interview that the song spoke to her and eventually helped her out of depression.
Furthermore, according to PerezHilton, Katy Perry couldn't have gone through depression without her loyal supporters. The site claims the reason why the singer was pulled out from her depression, and ultimately from her suicidal thoughts, was the support of her fans. "I wanted to share that side of my story because I know there are so many other people out there that have gone through things like that, and you always feel like you're the only one going through it," the singer said in the interview.
In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, Katy Perry revealed that the reason for her divorce from Russell Brand was over talks of starting their own family. The singer confessed she wasn't ready to start raising kids despite the actor's convincing. She reportedly couldn't think of herself as having to stay home more to take care of her child. Ultimately, the subject of having kids caused the couple their marriage.
