Katy Perry's father, Keith Hudson, has praised his new son-in-law comedian Russell Brand, confessing that he could not have wish for a better son-in-law than Brand. Hudson said that Brand makes his daughter "so happy."

Hudson was quoted by the entertainment Web site Radar Online as saying, "I could not have wished for a better son-in-law in Russell. He makes my girl so happy. She's so happy and he makes her light up. They're going to be just fine."

"You couldn't see two... happier people."

However, it has not always been this way with Katy Perry's parents toward her new husband, who has a history with drug abuse. The pop singer's mother, Mary, has urged Russell not to go "toward the darkness," but instead "towards the light."

She said: "Russell must go towards the light and not toward the darkness. Only God can take the very worst person and turn them around for good.

"You just have to see how the Lord's will is done. I mean, how many times have your kids disappointed you so profoundly you wanted to get up from the chair and knock them out?"

Pop star Katy Perry and comedian Russell Brand got married in a private ceremony in India last month. Perry and Brand were wedded by a Christian minister, although bride and the groom were dressed in traditional Indian attire.

Katy Perry met Russell Brand (Get Him to The Greeks, Despicable Me) met at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards where Brand was the host.

The wedding ceremony was celebrated at the Aman-e-Khas luxury resort outside the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary. Brand proposed to Perry outside Taj Mahal in December last year.
