Katy Perry has had her “Dark Horse” music video edited after a petition to have it removed from YouTube. A pendant that read “Allah” was digitally removed after it outraged Muslims for being “blasphemous.”

When the American songstress debuted her Egyptian-themed music video on YouTube, Muslims were outraged upon seeing an “Allah” pendant being disintegrated in the video.

A petition on Change.org launched by Shazad Iqbal in a bid to have the video removed from the Web site.

“The video is considered as highly controversial to its viewers as a result of its portrayal of blasphemy,” the petition reads. “At 01:15 into the video Dark Horse, a man is shown being burned, whilst wearing a pendant (also burned) forming the word ‘Allah,’ which is the Arabic word for God.

“Such goes to show that blasphemy is clearly conveyed in the video since Katy Perry (who appears to be representing an opposition to God) engulfs the believer and the word God in flames.”

It continued, “This is the reason for lodging the petition so that people from different walks of life, different religions and from different parts of the world, agree that the video promotes blasphemy, using the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner would be considered inappropriate by any religion.”

The video wasn’t taken down, though it was edited to conform to the petition.

In the digitally altered video, the man’s pendant has been removed. It’s not known if Perry’s record label or YouTube was the one that edited the video.

And while the edited video appears to appease the offended, it offends another group.

A new petition has been launched on the same Web site, Change.org, to have the music video return to its original state.

According to the petitioner Ian Willis, it should be reverted to “protect our Freedom of Speech.”

As of the time of writing, the petition has zero supporters.
