Officially, Perry was in Melbourne promoting her new album 'Teenage Dreams.' But the artist took an impromptu detour and crash a prom. Footage of the said crashing has surfaced on the Internet after airing in Australian nightly news.

This clip aired by Ten news has almost 40, 000 hits. It shows the pop stars 15-minute-long appearance at the formal and performance of Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)."

Two male teens boldly stepped in as Perry's dancers, as the 'California Gurl' unsuccessfully tried to emulate the choreography to the song. One boy said, 'I'm just standing there, like, jaw dropped, staring at her [and] I was like, 'I'm just gonna keep dancing.'Not everybody was excited about Perry's appearance at the prom. The faculty was iniatially confused by the commotion with one teacher actually telling the news channel that she didn't know who Perry was. "First I'm thinking, 'who is this silly girl?'... Who is this idiot?' the teacher said.
