Keira Knightley Not Returning For 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales'
Keira Knightley admits she is not the self-assured star that she currently is when she was younger. At one point, she was even worried that she would be fired from the hit movie franchise, "Pirates of the Carribean." However, she is now decided against returning to the fifth instalment.
Page Six reports that at a BAFTA event at the Standard, High Line, the seasoned actress shared that she once feared that Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind "Pirates of the Carribean," would fire her. She said that at 17, she was so convinced that it would happen, so she packed only a small bag to Hollywood.
She also said that when she was young, being part of some big blockbuster films took a toll on her. She became very insecure with what people were saying about her. She said that as a teenager who come out of sort of some big films, she was attacked with a lot of criticisms. Because she was young, she shared that she did not find it easy to handle. She said she heard it all--from being too thin to being too pouty. Her acting skills were also questioned up until she herself believed she was awful.
This is not the first time hat the British actress addressed the many criticisms thrown at her when she was starting and how badly she took them. Earlier this year, the actress shared that up until she's 24, she was being neurotic. It was only when she reached the age of 25 that she realised that she's taking comments about her, especially the negative ones, too seriously. However, upon reaching 25, she said she had a sudden epiphany that she should not care as much. And since then, she just changed to become more secure of herself and her capabilities, not minding the criticisms anymore. She turned into a happier person as a result, the Guardian reports.
Meanwhile, even though her role in the "Pirates of the Carribbean" was one of her most memorable works yet, the actress already shared that she would not reprise her character on the fifth film of the franchise titled "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." She shared that even though she had fun for the five years she had with the franchise, she now could not imagine going back to doing it again.
