Country singer Keith Urban will undergo throat surgery this month, which will reschedule quite a number of scheduled performances.

Doctor have found a polyp on his vocal chords that will need to be removed immediately, and part of the recovery process will require the "Kiss a Girl" singer to be on complete vocal rest.

Many successful artists have gone through throat surgery and still continued singing, such as the likes of R. Kelly who went under emergency throat surgery last July 2011 to drain an abscess from his tonsils. Granuloma was what hit John Mayer, that made him cancel some shows and push back the release of his new album, as reported by E! Online.

"The singer will be honoring one-song performance commitments until his surgery, and will reschedule all other performances in the new year. He postponed his 'All For The Hall' concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame, scheduled for January 18," reports Reuters.

"All for the Hall" was set to feature Vince Gill, Allison Krauss, Rascal Flatts and others, reported Rolling Stone.

At 41, Keith Urban is still rocking with top hits of country songs topping the Billboard Country list. songs include "Somebody Like You," "Days Go By" and "Better Life."

Recently even the vocal strata of Adele was not safe, where she underwent surgery to repair a hemorrhaged vocal cord, making her and her people stop the rest of the 2011 schedule for immediate rest. KISS front man Paul Stanley have also recently announced that he will need throat surgery, as covered by Billboard.

Keith urban is a New Zealand-born Aussie, which commercial success are mainly in the United States and his home country. He found success in America after releasing the single "But for the Grace of God," but he really broke through the Country music scene with "Somebody Like You," and won a Grammy for "You'll Think of Me."

Urban has been married to Hollywood veteran Nicole Kidman since 2006, and have had two lovely daughters named Sunday Rose Kidman Urban and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban.

Nicole Kidman has not released a statement regarding her husband's up and coming surgery.
