Keith Urban meets up with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg
Australian country singer Keith Urban stopped by the Facebook HQ today. This according to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who posted a photograph of him and Urban on his Facebook page.
It's not yet clear what Nicole Kidman's husband is up to with his vist in the Facebook headquarters but it might have something to do with Mark Zuckerberg's two-month old foundation, Start Up: Education.
Last September, Facebook CEO published a note on his page emphasizing how important education is for him, and how close the issue of education to his own family.
"Education has always been important to me and my family. Growing up, my parents emphasized the importance of learning and academic success. They both worked to make sure my three sisters and I could all go to good colleges. My grandmother was a teacher, and when my girlfriend graduated from college she became a teacher as well," wrote Mark Zuckerberg.
One of the aims of Zuckerberg's education advocacy through Start Up: Education is to promote teaching as a respectable career, although he noted that there many issues confronting education "all at once."
"Teaching needs to be more respected and revered as a career," said Zuckerberg.
"School districts need more autonomy and clearer leadership so they can be managed more like startups than like government bureaucracies. And outside the classroom, we need to support students' interests, give them a safe environment to grow up in, and keep everyone healthy."
The Facebook CEO had previously donated $100 million to the Newark, N.J. school system, as part of his advocacy and created thenew education foundation, Partnership for Education in the process, teaming up with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Newark Mayor Corey A. Booker and television personality Oprah Winfrey. (For more details of the story, click here: Mark Zuckerberg Donates $100 Million to Charity)
