Kendall Jenner Calls On Fellow Young Adults To Rock The Vote And Register For The Upcoming US Elections In November
Kendall Jenner is making her presence felt in the best runways in the world but the teenager is also taking some time to dip her toes into more relevant social issues. Among her photos from fashion shows in Milan and New York, Kendall posted a short video clip of herself on Instagram, inviting fellow Americans to register to vote for the upcoming elections.
In the short video, Kendall starts off by saying that she is in Europe at the moment for Milan Fashion Week and she emphasizes that despite being away, she was able to register for the upcoming elections. She explained that it is national voter registration day in the United States hence her call for action. She explained that she was able to register through the new mobile registration tool started by "Rock The Vote."
According to their website, Rock The Vote is the largest non-profit organization in the United States that encourages the youth to take part in elections. The organization was founded in 1990 and they have since used pop culture, music and new technologies to educate the youth and to encourage them to practice their right to vote. Before Kendall Jenner joined the fray, the group has also been supported by other iconic celebrities like Madonna and Snoop Dog in their previous campaigns.
Kendall has just turned 18 and is eligible to vote in national elections in the United States for the first time. She captioned her video: "There's an election Nov 4, & I registered for the first time with @rockthevote using my phone - you can too, at http://www.rockthevote.com. #RegisterNow"
She pointed out that she needed only her phone to register through the new app and this is in line with the organization's aim of making registration and voting easier and more accessible for new voters. The group claims to have brought in over six million new voters to the pools over the years and their online registration tool has been translated into 13 different languages.
With 12,000 Americans turning 18 every day, that's equivalent to 12,000 more votes. The group aims to keep the youth informed and active in exercising their right to choose the country's leaders. Kendall ended her message by asking her followers to do the same "so that our generation's voice can be heard this fall."
