Kenny Rogers is saying goodbye to Australia and New Zealand for good. The American country music icon has announced his last performances in both countries, giving no reason why he won’t return anymore.

On Wednesday, Rogers, 76, told fans that he will be completing a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand before he stops playing in both countries completely. The “Farewell Down Under” tour will kick off in Sydney in January, and will conclude in Hamilton, New Zealand in February.

He has not given a reason why he decided not to add anymore shows in the future, but just claimed that both Australia and New Zealand are his favourite touring destinations.

“For all of the travelling I’ve done around the world, Australia and New Zealand remain two of my favourite places to perform,” the Texas, U.S. superstar said in a statement. “When I was with the First Edition, we made this same trip several times, and no matter how many times I’ve gone, I’ve always loved the audiences Down Under. They have a great sense of humour, and they’ve always treated me with such great respect, so for that, I say thank you.”

First Edition was the band he formed with Mike Settle, Terry Williams and Thelma Camacho in 1967. They came up with hits such as “Just Dropped In (To see What Condition My Condition Was In)” and “BUt You Know I Love You” during the ‘60s.

Rogers toured Australia and New Zealand with the band in 1973, with Dolly Parton in 1984 and 1987, with Reba McEntire in 1998, and as a solo performer in more recent years. Although it would be his last visit to the two Oceania nations, he will continue to tour in other countries.

Tickets are now available.
