Kenyan Lawyer Wants To Marry Malia Obama; Offers 70 Sheep, 30 Goats, 50 Cows
After attracting media attention with her tight jeans video in 2014, first daughter Malia Obama is now turning the head of a Kenyan lawyer who wants to marry her. Felix Kiprono is offering US President Barack Obama 30 goats, 50 cows and 70 sheep for Malia’s hand in marriage.
Kirprono said he became interested in Malia in 2008 when she was just 10 and her father was campaigning for the presidency. He said that since then he had never went on a date, reports The Nairobian.
The offer of livestock or animals is a tradition among many African tribes as dowry for marriage. Besides the dowry, Kirpono wants to stick to other courting traditions of the Kalenjin tribe where he belongs by tying a “sacred plant” on the woman’s head and feeding her sour milk or “mursik.”
For his wedding proposal, if the president would agree to his offer, the lawyer plans to propose to her in Bureti, a popular hill in his father’s land which is the place where warriors and leaders are often crowned. Other Kalenjin tradition that Kirprono wants to observe is to teach his future wife how to milk a cow, cook ugali and prepare the sour milk.
He said he is writing a letter to Obama, who is set to visit Kenya in June, to ask the president to bring 16-year-old Malia along. He plans to give the letter to the US embassy in Nairobi. Obama’s father was born in Kenya and they family still has relatives in the African country, reports Al.com.
