Kevin Rudd Sends Best Wishes to Royal Family on Behalf of Australians
Newly elected Prime Minister of Australia Kevin Rudd said send his best wishes to the royal family in a statement: "I think all Australians at the bottom of their hearts wish the royal bub all the best and certainly wish the new parents all the best as well. This is a day of great joy.
"To Prince Charles and Camilla, they have the delight of being grandparents, all I can say is, and this is probably one of the best experiences of your life. And I'm sure they're going to have a wonderful time with the royal baby. And her Majesty the Queen and to the Duke of Edinburgh, the special delight of a great-grandchild. So, on behalf of all Australians, we wish the family all the best at this wonderful time of celebration," BBC News reports.
While Prince Charles was visiting York during the weekend, he denied any rumours about Kate Middleton's postponed due date and was waiting anxiously for the baby to arrive.
Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, said that the couple had been waiting for a phone call to apprise them of the good news.
By the time the royal baby was born, the Prince of Wales said he and his wife, Duchess of Cornwall, were "overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild," BBC reports.
"It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy," he added.
Prince Charles continued to say in an online report, "Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone's life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future."
His comments about his grandson sounded more articulate than his gazed surprise at the birth of Prince William: Charles described child birth as being a rather odd thing, adding excitedly, I can't believe I am looking at my own system.'
He added, 'It is rather a grown up thing, I found. Rather a shock to the system.'
Prince Charles joked with reporters that his son was in 'marvellous form' and he would not comment about when he would have his next child. "Give us a chance. You ask my wife. I don't think she would be too pleased just yet," Charles was quoted as saying by Yahoo News UK.
And here's what The Daily Mail had to say about Prince William and his future responsibilities, which will be passed on to the news Prince as well:
"A young prince must learn to seem intelligent enough to have his own opinions, but skilful enough to avoid expressing them. He must always look smart, but never look overdressed. When he wishes to express concern he must do so without anxiety or sentimentality and while appearing serene he must never be suspected of indifference. He must be a hard worker but he must never look overworked and if mastering all those contradictions makes him feel that he must be very clever indeed, then cleverness is the last thing that he should display. He must be the same as other people but somehow different - and he must also be unfailingly interested in absolutely everything," reports Yahoo News UK.
