Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott to Friendship after All?
In the entire commotion of the recently concluded Australian Election 2013, rivals Kevin Rudd and Tony Abbott had called each other names.
Mr Rudd had once ridiculed Mr Abbott for his childish "baddies vs baddies" comment on Syria. On the other hand, Mr Abbott once asked if Mr Rudd "ever shut up?".
However, both men were amiable with each other when finally up close and personal as they carry out the ceremonial handover of the Prime Minister's official Canberra residence, The Lodge.
Mr Rudd, in his concession speech on Saturday, had promised to carry out this tradition and he stayed true to his promise.
There was a brief awkward moment as they do a handshake at the doorsteps of The Lodge. But, "talkative" Mr Rudd break the ice.
"It's a ... you and Margie will find this a good place to make a home," Mr Rudd started.
"Well it's an honour to be here - an extraordinary honour, very few people obviously have that honour... and yeah; very interesting," Mr Abbott was still awkward.
Mr Rudd knew very well how to get an awkward man to cool and talk a little more. He asked whether Mr Abbott's adult daughters would be living at The Lodge too.
They broke the awkwardness finally.
"The short answer is yes. Because they don't want to leave home until such time as they get married," Mr Abbott said almost chuckling.
Mr Rudd then chuckled too.
"I - I know that feeling," Mr Rudd said.
As they tour The Lodge, Mr Rudd talked about the beautiful garden.
"I've never really explored it. But all in good time, as they say..."
The two, who could be the long lost friends after all decided to get inside The Lodge leaving the media behind.
"We're going to have a cup of tea," said Mr Rudd.
Looking back on how they attacked each other during the campaign period, it will be hard to imagine that there will be this one day when they can chit-chat about their families, relate to each other as loving parents, over a cup of tea on a breezy afternoon.
