Kiesha Murder Trial Day 1: 'I am sick of her... I will hurt her...kill her' -- Kristi Abrahams
Mother and alleged murderer of Kiesha Weippeart appears in court today for the first day of her sentencing hearing. Kristi Abrahams recently pleaded guilty for the murder of her 6-year-old daughter, Kiesha last July 2010 in their Sydney home in Mt. Druitt. Her body was stuffed in a suitcase and left inside her bedroom for a few days. Abrahams and her husband, Kiesha's stepdad, allegedly went to a nearby bushland and burned the girl's body. They later buried her in a shallow grave.
Abrahams apparently told her own father that she was sick and tired of Kiesha and wanted to "hurt" and "kill" her. These statements were told by Abrahams' father before the court earlier.
Abrahams, 30, claims she did not murder her child but only "nudged" her, causing the girl to fall.
Crown Prosecutor Chris Maxwell, QC revealed that shortly before Abrahams was arrested, she told a police officer that she only nudged the girl with her foot while making her put on pyjamas. Abrahams said Kiesha fell and hit her head on the bed.
Maxwell continued to tell the NSW court that Abrahams observed Kiesha "went funny". She placed the little girl under the shower in the hopes of waking her. Abrahams said Kiesha "felt like jelly" and was making weird sounds.
Abrahams and her husband set Kiesha down on a folding bed before going to sleep. When the couple woke up the next morning, Kiesha was already dead. Prosecutor Maxwell said there was strong evidence that Abrahams wanted to seriously hurt her daughter and intended to kill her.
The father of Abrahams and Kiesha's grandfather would testify at the sentencing hearing. Her father said Abrahams called him shortly before the murder and said she was "sick" of Kiesha. According to her father's statements, Abrahams said Kiesha "shits and pisses in bed, she f***up in school.. I will hurt her, I really will hurt her... I will kill her."
While the exact cause of the little girl's cannot be determined at this time because her body has already decomposed before proper examination, the court heard statements concerning clear proof that Kiesha suffered severe head trauma from multiple blows.
Forensic dental expert Allan Middleton testified before the court and revealed that Kiesha's teeth were no longer normal and some may be caused by an "upward blow".
The hearing continues as the Crown will evaluate evidence relating to Abrahams' intent to kill her own daughter, Kiesha.
