Some Kardashian fans might be surprised of Kim's absence during the 2012 Met Gala. Was it coincidental? Or was she not invited?

In every chance offered to showcase her curvy figure in long gowns for lavish events, Kim Kardashian is sure to be present. But there wasn't a sign of the reality star at the recent 2012 Met Gala.

There was an overflow of celebrities and their fabulous gowns at the red carpet of the Met Gala 2012 in New York City. This is the kind of event where most celebrities would like to be part of and basing from the fact that the Kardashians are never missed out on daily celebrity news, it was a surprise for some that Kim wasn't part of the red carpet arrivals.

Instead of slipping in a designer gown and posing in front of photographers, Kim spent the day tweeting. The 31-year-old even posted how she's excited to see all the fashion at Met Gala.

Later in the afternoon, she made a blog post revealing her favorite best dressed celebrity for the glamorous occasion. So why was Kim absent on one of the most glamorous nights in the fashion industry?

According to reports, Kim Kardashian was banned from attending the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala by orders from U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The famous and powerful editor apparently isn't a fan of the Kardashians and made it a point that she didn't have a way in.

"Anna hates Kim. Why would she be invited to the event? It is all the biggest stars in the world and Kim doesn't fit that bill at all," a source told Radar Online.

Her absence during the event was even more unexpected since rumored boyfriend Kanye West was present at the bash. Being a man who can surely pull a few strings in the business, it seems like Kanye can't do anything to help Kim.

"The Met Gala is $25,000 a ticket, but Kim can't even buy her way in, Anna Wintour does not want her there! Anna Wintour would allow Kim Kardashian on the cover of Vogue over her dead body. As long as Anna in charge you will not see Kim on Vogue," the source added.
