Kim Kardashian demands production of adult doll to stop
Here's the latest Keeping Up With The Kardashians: Kim Kardashian had resorted to legal action against the maker of Kinky Kim, an adult novelty that Kim had reportedly inspired.
Previously, Monsters and Critics reported that Kim Kardashian will be featured as an inflatable adult toy by manufacturer Pipedream Products in their Super Stars Series. The doll will be called Kinky Kim, after the commercial Kardashian did for fast-food chain Carl's Jr.
Now, Kim Kardashian's lawyers had sent a letter demanding that Pipedream " immediately cease and desist all use of Ms. Kardashian's likeness on all products and advertisements." E! Online obtained a copy of the letter, which said that Pipedream's use of the likeness of Kim Kardashian violates the reality star's right of publicity. Under California law, the alleged offense is punishable by actual and punitive damages.
"It has recently come to our attention that you have used Ms. Kardashian's image on a plastic blow-up doll which your company is offering for sale. Accordingly, you are using Ms. Kardashian's likeness for your own commercial gain," said the legal counsel of Kim.
"Moreover, Ms. Kardashian has not authorized you to use her image in such a manner. Your unauthorized use of Ms.Kardashian's likeness on this doll constitutes a violation of her right of publicity."
But Pipedreams countered these allegations. A representative for the company was quoted by TMZ as saying, "The similarity between the Kinky Kim doll and Ms. Kardashian is purely coincidental."
