In her effort to raise funds for the victims of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, Kim Kardashian auctioned some of her clothes and accessories on eBay. The auctioned items range from high-end brands like Chanel and Dolce&Gabbana to the more affordable ones from her very own Kardashian Kollection.

Through her official Web site, Kim enticed all auctioneers to support her cause.

"Hi guys, this is a very special auction because a portion of the proceeds of my eBay auction are going to International Medical Corps, a nonprofit organization that provides critical health services on remote islands where families are struggling to access medical care and basic resources like food, clean drinking water and vital medications. The proceeds will go directly to the communities they're serving in the Philippines and will help typhoon survivors get access to medical care and ultimately save lives," Kim wrote.

"My prayers and thoughts are with those affected by the typhoon. Check out my eBay auction here and support those who need our help in the Philippines. Xo," Kim added.

However, according to the eBay posting, Kim is keeping 90 per cent of the profits from the sale for herself and only ten per cent goes to the victims of typhoon Haiyan.

Some netizens were quick to react on this:

@KimKardashian do you REALLY need 90% profit from the eBay clothes you sell, giving just 10% to the Philippine typhoon charity? #absurd

Kim Kardashian is on eBay selling some of her clothes for charity. 10% goes to the charity. Hope that doesn't break you, Kim #generosity — David Rancken (@rancken) November 22, 2013

Worse, Kim was compared to couple David and Victoria Beckham donating boxes load of designer clothes and shoes - Jimmy Choo, Dolce&Gabbana - to a charity shop without getting any percentage from the proceeds that will also help the typhoon Haiyan victims.

Difference in the class of people; @victoriabeckham & @KimKardashian KK donates 10% of eBay sales & VB drops boxes off at a charity shop

@KimKardashian @eBay @IMC_Worldwide ONLY 10% WILL GO TO CHARITY???? LOOK AT THE BECKAMS THEY DONATE 100%. — Cassandra Meijer (@CassandraMeijer) November 22, 2013

"Everyone has something in their closet they were holding on to - a dress, suit, or pair of shoes they thought they might wear again. Dig them out, bag them up, drop them off and give someone else the chance to buy them, raising much-needed funds for the Red Cross aid effort," Victoria told BBC in an interview.

According to the charity shop, those queuing to buy the Beckham's stuff were required to follow a one in one out policy - each person was only allowed to purchase a single item of their choice. Also, only a maximum of 50 people at a time were allowed to go inside the shop.

According to Mark Astarita, charity's director of fundraising, the couple's donation ""will enable us to raise significant funds towards the enormous humanitarian operation currently under way".

"One of Victoria's dresses will buy 50 blankets; one of David's suits will buy 14 tarpaulins. It really can make a difference to people in the Philippines," Mr Astarita told BBC.
