Kim Kardashian's 'Break The Internet' Backside Cover Follows Ashlee Simpson's Nose Job, Used For Geometry SATs Prep
Kim Kardashian's now infamous Paper Magazine cover is now being used not only to "Break the Internet,' but also for breaking the Math - for the SAT exams that is. A company helping students prepare for the high-stakes test by using Kim's perfectly shaped backside to illustrate a mathematical lesson.
New York Daily News has reported that Catalyst, a test prep company, has come up with a breakthrough method to make children understand geometry. Students are being tested on their knowledge of circumference, angles, and area, through Kim's controversial magazine cover, which has been making waves in the Internet since it came out.
"Kim Kardashian's backside is almost perfectly circular," Catalyst founder Jared Friedland shares to Daily News. "As soon as we saw that, it occurred to me that we could teach three types of geometry questions." Whether the firm gets brownie points for the idea is still undecided as some kids think the method just distracted them from answering the questions.
A student shared that given time, he knows he could solve the question. However, he personally thinks that Kim's picture would be distracting. A girl student thinks that the method is just a distraction, which would lead to discussions of butts and women instead of solving questions on circumference, angles and area better. Another student does not think there's anything wrong with using Kim's picture to aid their discussion on Geometry because Kim has been used in her English class as a method to learn a new word. Apparently, the reality star has been used as an example for the vocabulary word "lascivious." For a look on the three questions using Kim's backside, check this.
This is not the first time that the company would embark on quizzing math concepts through a pop culture icon. A few years back, the company also used the before and after shots of Ashlee Simpson's nose job to test students on their skills in calculating the slope of a line. This method seems to be benefiting the company and the preparing students. It has been reported that 85% of his students improve their scores by at least 200 points when go through a Catalyst course to prepare for their SATs.
