“Kingdom Hearts 3” was announced years ago, but Square Enix has not revealed when the title will be released in the market. However, director Tetsuya Nomura has been more open about sharing details, the most recent of which revolves around the transformation patterns of the new Keyblade.

In an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via Gematsu), Nomura explained that a Keyblade’s transformation depends on the Keyblade specifically. He even drew examples of previously released videos, where the weapon morphed into a tank and shield or crossbows and a bazooka. “There is not always a division of attack and defense,” he shared. He also confirmed that the items will have two transformation patterns.

The publication also asked about the “Link” command that was seen in official battle images, but Nomura refused to delve into this topic further. “That I’ll explain as we put out more information in the future,” he said. It is, however, likely that Sora will be able to link with members of his party for what could be a more powerful attack than previous generations of the franchise showcased.

Square Enix also shared new screenshots of “Kingdom Hearts 3” last month, which can be seen above. As Gaming Bolt has noted, it looks as if Sora is squaring off against a boss. However, the enemy is not shown so audiences cannot really know for sure. What is certain from the photo is that there will some serious action in the upcoming title.

Sora’s Keyblade in the image seems to be emitting a sort of lightning power. It is also evident that the game developers put more detail into the game, including weaponry and character clothing. It is not groundbreaking compared to the other games that are already available but it does offer a crisper look and a cleaner feel.

More details of the title are expected to be revealed as the months go on. If recent trends are anything to go by, bits and pieces will continue to roll out every few weeks or so. And while Square Enix has not made an announcement, this could mean that the game developer is getting closer to finishing the game. “Kingdom Hearts 3” was announced almost four years ago at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2013. It has been confirmed for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
