Toshiba is not playing safe when it comes to their line of computing products. While some companies are looking into capitalizing on mid-range products, Toshiba has sets its sights on a high end offering. The company recently unveiled their line of ultrabooks called Kira.

Kirabook is actually the company's first attempt in the ultrabook market. Nonetheless, it is the flagship product for Toshiba's high-end line. According to the company, the Kirabook caters to markets with a more discerning character. From how it looks, the Kira line does not seem to disappoint.

The Kirabook caters to the 30 to 40 age bracket. It is also ideal for photo enthusiasts - something both men and women will find interesting according to Toshiba. The company is extending to a niche that has the money but are not necessarily first adopters. Rather, Toshiba is concentrating on those consumers who monitor trends and will jump right in once a new technology or device is introduced.

Toshiba admits that consumers need to spend additional dollars on their offering but claims every additional charge is worth it. The company has no plans in joining the competition for the lower end market for ultrabooks. Rather, they are investing on a target market who are particular about their tech products.

The entry-level device feature non-touch displays though the step-up models will feature touch screens. Step-up models will start at $1,799 and $1,999. The mid-priced model will run on an i5 processor whereas the flagship product will feature an i7 processor. Other specs include 256GB solid state drive and 8GB memory.

The Kirabooks have a nice design to them. They can also easily fit with totes and similar types of bags. They come in a similar weight and size of a large tablet plus the device has an excellent cover. Toshiba invested on the industrial design as well. All models have pressed magnesium alloy cover, Retina-level display and improved keyboard. Toshiba dubbed their Retina-level display technology as Pixel Pure.
