Kit Harington’s black eye landed him Jon Snow’s role in ‘Game of Thrones’
Kit Harington, who plays the insanely beloved “Game of Thrones” character Jon Snow, got into an altercation with a customer at a McDonald’s restaurant, the night before he auditioned for the hit HBO series. He auditioned with a black eye all because of the fight but was selected.
The 29-year-old British actor revealed that he was at the fast food chain restaurant with a girl who he was “sort of dating at the time.” The other guy was being rude to the lady Harington was with and even called her “something like an ugly pig.” That is when Harington stood up and called the guy up for a fight, something he had never done before.
“He got up and he just kept [getting taller] and I realized that I had to, at that point, throw the first punch — otherwise I’d look like a complete wimp,” he added. “And I got battered,” Harington told W magazine in a new interview.
Even though the guy was too big for the Jon Snow actor, his black eye proved to be lucky for him. It gave him an edge during the audition and Harington said that the guy helped him get the job. “So, if you’re watching, thank you!” Harington said in the interview.
The actor is currently dating his former “Game of Thrones” co-star Rose Leslie who played Jon Snow’s Wildling lover Ygritte. Since 2012, the duo has been dating on and off. They even made their red carpet debut as a couple totally into each other at the 2016 Olivier Awards in London in April.
In May, Harington revealed that he fell in love with Leslie during their shooting in Iceland for Season 2.
“Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love. If you're already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love,” Harington told Vogue Italia, reports US Weekly.
