Just one more reason for the Netizens to hate on restaurateurs Amy and Samy Bouzaglo: the most hated couple in Gordon Ramsay’s U.S. reality series “Kitchen Nightmares” have a shady past, according to an unearthed record. Amy, chef and co-owner of Amy’s Baking Company restaurant, has been discovered to be a convicted felon.

In 2004, Amy – real name Amanda Patricia Bossingham – was sentenced to 14 months in prison followed by 36 months supervised released for one charge of Misuse of a Social Security Number, according to the records discovered by Radaronline.com.

She was also ordered to pay $36,294.95 in restitution for the offence that she committed in 2001 when she submitted an application for a line of credit using another person’s social security number. The M & I Bank approved the credit of $15,000.

Amy was also placed on for years probation by the Fourth Judicial District for Colorado Springs for “similar offences of Theft and Forgery,” the Web site reported.

Her attorney then submitted a motion to extend her self-surrender date and modify her sentence in June 2008, saying that “At the time of her offence, Ms. Bouzaglo’s mother had just passed away, her marriage had just failed, and her small business went under as a result of her divorce.”

The documents also said that Amy met Salomon Bouzaglo (Samy) towards the end of her criminal case.

“With her husband’s overwhelming support, Ms. Bouzaglo made drastic changes in her life and formed new, positive relationships. The Bouzaglo’s opened a restaurant named Amy’s Baking Company in Scottsdale, Arizona, which is now very successful.”

But perhaps their customers have a different take on how “successful” their restaurant is. The couple became the target of online harassments after they appeared on the celebrity chef’s U.S. Fox programme, where they were seen attacking customers who complain about their food and service, cheating their food servers of tips, firing an employee for simply asking a question, deflecting criticisms, retaliating on customers with their food, insulting Ramsay, and calling the cops on one customer who just asked what’s taking his pizza so long.

They hit back at the online attacks by calling their YELP, Facebook, and Reddit critics insulting names, threatening to call on the FBI on them. They later claimed that their Facebook page had been hacked, and that they were not the ones who wrote the demeaning posts.

The couple have now announced that they will are preparing for their restaurant’s grand re-opening on May 21. According to their Facebook post, the portion of the proceeds will go to an unnamed charity that brings awareness to cyber bullying.
