Some of New Zealand's most famous personalities have come together to help the victims of the Haiyan super typhoon in the Philippines. Sir Peter Jackson, David Tua, Kim Dotcom, and Lorde have given a piece of their precious belongings for a special auction by TV ONE's "Seven Sharp."

The top Kiwi celebrities were quick to help out in the auction by donating goods to the Trade Me auction. All proceeds from the sales of their items will go to Oxfam's relief efforts for the Haiyan-devastated region in the Philippines.

Oxfam is an international group of 17 organisations working in countries around the world to find solutions to poverty. It currently reaches out to the victims of the super typhoon in the Southeast Asian country.

"Kiwi celebrities have leapt at the chance to help those in need, and given New Zealand a great chance to get behind emergency efforts," "Seven Sharp" executive producer Raewyn Rasch said in a statement.

"We're proud to help the Typhoon Haiyan relief fund to get important supplies to those in need."

Interested bidders have until November 20 to 22 to bid on the items on Trade Me.

The items that are included in the special auction are:

  • A signed Lorde poster and 2 tickets to VNZMA (closes on Nov 20)
  • Signed Salt-n-Pepa salt & pepper shakers (closes on Nov 22)
  • A deluxe DVD edition of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" signed by Sir Peter Jackson (closes on Nov 22)
  • Pullman Hotel package valued at $750 (valid for 1 night stay from Nov 23 to Dec 8) (closes on Nov 22)
  • Signed Team NZ Olympic Rowing uniform (closes Nov 22)
  • Lunch at The Grove with the "Seven Sharp" presenters ( closes Nov 22)
  • Dinner at Masu and a night at The Sky City Grand Hotel (closes Nov 22)
  • Signed CD and a musical serenade from Anika Moa (closes Nov 22)

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Air Force has landed in the Philippines to help with the international relief efforts for the devastated country. The military donated food, water, emergency supplies, medical equipment, and other basic necessities to the people in Tacloban City and other provinces affected by the calamity.
