Kobe Bryant honored with Hollywood walk of fame
Kobe Bryant is the first athlete to be honored with Hollywood walk of fame
Rain or shine, Kobe Bryant gets the shrine when honored with Hollywood walk of fame over the weekend. The Lakers star player is the first athlete to have his foot and hand prints cemented outside the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
It is indeed another feather in the cap for Bryant since the commemoration is usually given to the most popular, brightest and most glamorous film stars in Hollywood. Bryant now joins celebrities like John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe and Brad Pitt with their hands and feet imprinted in front of the luxury Hollywood movie theater.
The 13-time all star Bryant, for his part has five NBA championship rings and an Olympic gold medal. He has always been compared to great basketball player, Michael Jordan, described and seen doing even greater plays than Jordan, who has popularly been called "Air Jordan" and "His Airness" for his display of outstanding moves in court.
Wearing a size-14 shoe (size 48 among Europeans), the Agence France Presse said that Bryant had his hands and feet set in a ceremony over the weekend, in time with the National Basketball Association’s all-star weekend festivities. No rain could stop the ceremony as it was moved inside the ‘iconic movie theatre’. Held at the Staples Center arena, the annual NBA all-star game takes place at the home court for Bryant’s Lakers.
