Kobe Bryant Nets 44, But Los Angeles Lakers Lose Big To Golden State Warriors, 136-115
Not even Kobe Bryant's season-high 44-point output could save the Los Angeles Lakers from suffering a blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry finished with his own 30 points and added 15 assists for the Warriors, which entered this game as the second highest scoring team in the league with an average of over 108 points per game.
Against the hapless and bumbling Lakers' defence, the Warriors scored more including 40 and 41 points each in the middle quarters. This one was virtually over by halftime as well with Golden State holding a 74-55 advantage at the break and they never let up in the third outscoring the Lakers, 41-24 in that quarter.
Helping Curry out were Andrew Bogut, who had his best game of the season with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds; Klay Thompson with 18 points on 5-of-11 field goal shooting; and Marreese Speights, who scored 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds off the bench.
Bryant shot 15-of-34 overall from the field but missed 9-of-12 shots from behind the arc. He added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Jordan Hill had 15 points and 11 rebounds. The entire Lakers squad shot only 39.4 per cent from the field including 3-of-13 from Carlos Boozer, who only had 6 markers.
After losing back-to-back games to the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs, Golden State has now responded with three straight wins with home victories over the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets and the road win in L.A. The Lakers started the season 0-5 before a home win against the Hornets but is on another four-game skid.
